Good Morning lovely folks! Wow do I have something amazing for you! I think you have found that out though by reading the title, but let me tell you what I have that is so amazing! Well, let me give you a quick over view of a fabulous lady. Her name is Katie Barnes, global educator and nail wizard. Y’all, I love me some Katie! She is a truly amazing educator and fantastic writer. I first had the chance to meet her at Nail Camp when I didn’t know who anyone was. To be honest, I’m glad I didn’t know her, so I met her authentically without a pedestal to place her on and to admire her for her craft and not her name.
Ok. So now that you and her have been formally introduced and you are ready to creep her social media, let’s talk about her achievements. That’s right Hunny I’m polishing the steps to the pedestal. Katie, a walking talent beyond measure is carefully crafting new tools for our industry. What sets her apart is that she has a niche and she is sticking to it! While most companies make gels, acrylics, or nail art, Katie is sticking to the foundation of nails. Her offerings include scissors, E-File bits, C-Curve Cylinders, Thickness Calipers and more!
While I’m not aware of Mrs. Barnes ideas when it comes to choose what to offer and what she wants to present to our industry, I do respect that she puts shaping, foundation, and appearance of enhancements before nail design. Because, how rare is that in our industry? The polishing of the steps is almost finished.
So what is the point of this article, since I have given such a marvelous introduction? Well I have Katie’s newest product! It’s an E-File! And oh my gawd is it sexy! It just oozes classiness as it rests on my desk.
I received my E-File on December 27th I believe. So I have had plenty of time to review it, and I have some nice things to say. Before I begin, I want to say as my disclaimer, all of these thoughts are opinions of my own and I am not being sponsored for this review. I’m doing it out of the kindness of my heart. Basically, if it sucks I’ll let you know. But, actually it doesn’t, it’s quite the opposite!
When it arrived, it was beautifully packaged in safe wrapping and I loved that. I don’t want it to come broken! Especially with our mail system.
As you see above there are cuticle bits that I have for proper manicuring. As I get older I appreciate dry manicuring more than ever over a water bowl and a cuticle pusher. The technical advancement is just unparalleled.
With a new E-File I think it’s only fair to try out bits and give a good comparison, and these did not disappoint. Strong, sturdy, and they stand out!
Let’s get into why I like this new E-File. First, it’s black, and black is beautiful, but even more, it’s satin. A soft wonderful exterior of what feels like metal, a touch different than a hard plastic were so accustomed to. Which reminds me, if you’ve ever purchased or used her products, you’ll realize they’re an experience not just a tool, and this E-File is no different. Featuring a large dial on the front that doubles as a screen for battery percentage and rotation speed. I will admit, it was an adjustment as I’m used to my tiny widdle knob on my Medicool 35K Portable E-File.
How about using the E-File? That’s the real knowledge you’re looking for! Well I really enjoyed the hand piece, it’s lighter than my Medicool, but a smidgen thicker. It comes with a translucent black cap to keep it covered when not in use, which I didn’t even know existed! We all need caps! It is also whisper quiet. Can’t gossip with this E-File because you will be heard. But that’s just testimony that you’ll enjoy your service without a loud roaring from an Amazon E-File. I own one, I know…
I had to get used to the torque, which I judged unfairly in the beginning without letting time pass. If your new to the term, Torque is the amount of force applied when in rotation, such as how much force your hands put on your steering wheel to turn. It’s a measurement of power. Oh yea, I’m still gonna teach you something today! While I’m use to my Medicool as I have needed it to carve and do other things away from nails. I had to get used to a new E-File with torque in a different way. I appreciated having something new to adjust to. Kind of like having a new car, same great quality, but different experience.
The battery lasts a long time, I haven’t charged it much, but kudos to actually having battery percentage displayed on screen. My Medicool, does not, so I just plug it in whenever. Having the dial display the tachometer of the E-File was wonderful as it is what I am used to. I used another E-File and I had to feel for it. I got by but I wasn’t too happy. I don’t like change!
I appreciated the base of the E-File, being light to hold. For it to simply be a power box, I do like that it’s sturdy, but not a sagging brick on my desk. All these comes together to give you an experience! And you will never know it, if you own a cheap E-File. I know I didn’t! The pedestal is now ready!
Currently, the E-File is retailing for $308.52. which is really good. My Medicool was $400, so Katie where were you two years ago!! I needed you! Also, listed at this time of writing Katie is offering a FREE masterclass accompanied with your purchase to train you on using an E-File. To me that’s a steal, because it cost a lot to get E-Filed trained, and honestly, classes are rare. You’ll find nail art or structure before you see an E-File class.
