How I became a Celebrity Nail Tech!

Good morning! Are you interested in hearing how I became a celebrity nail tech? It’s really quite a great story. And no blood, sweat, or tears were shed. Which is always wonderful. I don’t smell too good when sweaty or there’s blood shed. But anyway, I thought this would be a fun story to tell that dates back to 2021. The year everything changed.

In case you’re wondering, it’s about a famous drag queen. Ever heard of Rupauls Drag Race? Well it’s a show where typically 14 drag queens will come together to do different entertaining tasks, such as moderate a panel, act in a soap opera, form a girl group, or even do a musical! It’s a lot involved. And every week a girl is sent home until we get to the end, and someone is crowned a winner.

Well you see my best friend, Angie, or Angeria Paris Van Michaels, was cast on to the show. He, well in drag, she, appeared on the show in its 14th season. And being the wonderful supportive best friend I am, I made every single nail set that she wore. Which was actually a lot of fun. Out of all of my clients, she gives me the most freedom, as I get to just look at the outfit and then design the nail set based on what she will wear. Creativity just runs wild hunny!

So in designing some of the sets, I made some very simple such as the black, nude, white, and red for some looks just because you needed nails to go with anything. And for the more complex looks, I made personalized nails such as the ones below. I’ll go into details about them, so you can see the inspiration of them.

Up first you’ll see the floral set of nails I did here. Now many possibilities are here. You could just do some fancy colors or you can marble or even stamp flowers. Personally I like decals so that would have been fun. But this is a tv show. I want to take it further, so I made roses on the nails and of course had to have stones.

Next up I wanted to keep kind of simple because the entire look is just silver and stones. So what better nails to do than silver and fully stoned. It was perfect!

I wasn’t sure where to go with the dress that was given, because it had the layered tutu’s on it. And for me I wanted to emulate that on the nails. Instead I went completely left and made nails that would simply blend in. This was a challenge where the focus is the tutu as all the queens had to do a tutu of some sort, so no one would be an actually looking at the nails here, unfortunately. So green it is!

This was such a fun set for me and probably my favorite from the whole show. She wore so many shades of purple, and I just knew I had to do the same thing. Now because I knew this was the reunion, she would be talking with her hands and that meant make busy nails, so flowers, stones, reflective glitter. All combined to make an epic set!

Lastly, this is her finale look, and she was grand! Oh so grand. I wanted the nails to be grand as well but also not being busy. So I settled on this lovely blue look that went along with the feathers. Dark blues, combined with glitters that radiate blue plus the softness of the nude to match her hair was a perfect combination.

All in all it was an absolute dream come true to make nails for her. And for them to be on TV was spectacular. I didn’t know it at the time but it catapulted me into a space that I never thought I would be in, I truly became a celebrity nail tech. How awesome! And she’s gone on to wear my nails many more times, and she keeps becoming bigger and bigger of a celebrity. So who knows what the future holds. Im just glad to help my bestie be pretty.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog and if you want to find more of her merch as well to support her, you can find it here. I’ll see you later sweets.
