Why should all nail techs go to a trade show?

Hi everyone and welcome back to maybe another amazing trade show blog post? Im just kidding, they’re always amazing, and it’s why you all are here. I must admit, apart from education articles and my interviews, I found myself at cross roads thinking what should I write about. It’s not easy to pump out quality work every week ya know. But I remembered that this blog is more than educational, it is well rounded and that includes having my options spurted out there for you to read. You’re Welcome.

But no seriously, you all have joined for many reasons and today I wanted to discuss why I believe every single nail tech should go to a trade show. All personal opinions, but good ones nonetheless.

It is in my humble opinion that every nail tech should attend a trade show for the reasons as stated.

  • Education
  • Networking
  • Vacation
  • Supply Replenishment
  • Dopamine Psychoactive Adjustment

Now I know what you are thinking. I used some big words there, and while vacation may have many letters, it’s the others that I used that will really astound you. Let’s dive into each topic and expand on it to really get an understanding on just why a nail tech trade show will benefit you and your career.

Education

  • For every nail tech that wants to improve on their knowledge and keep up with current trends, it is of the most importance that you learn new things. All trends come and go yes. but with the prevalence of social media, your clients will be tuning in and wanting the latest and greatest, and it is up to you to want to take your work to the next level. Whether it is a small technique, or a grand scale set, you or your client would benefit highly from a step up in what you currently know. Think of the endless possibilities!

Networking

  • Surprise! There are more nail techs in the land than just you and your peers. Thats right, you too can have lots of friends if you so choose by going to trade shows. Just think about all the long drawn out conversations you have had with your significant other over glitter and they’re tired and worn out listening to you obsess. Well not to worry, you can talk to a nail tech at trade show and talk all day long, even night if you’re feeling it! It is so welcoming an heartwarming to have a good friend that bonds with you over your same obsession. Gaining new friends also fills up your cup of friendship and love and passion of your career. It’s nothing better than having a good friend who shares the same hobby and career as you.

Vacation

  • Are you worn out? Are you tired? Does your car need a new hubcap but you just can’t spare it because a margarita sounds better? Well you need a vacation! Thats right! Who says that when you attend a nail event you have to go with a purpose, maybe you just need a getaway and want to be surrounded by like minded people. Well that is ok! I say do it. Sometimes I just want to sit in a room and talk about stiletto nails and not learn, sometimes I just want to have dinner with a group of friends and we relate in person more than on the phone. Well attending a nail show is a good way to getaway and be surrounded by your friends while still having a good time not working. Treat yourself.

Supply Replenishment

  • Is your salon running low on supplies? Do you need a new summer polish? Ya know, I felt like I sounded like a car salesman there, so I’m just gonna dive right on it. Trade shows are a great way to replenish your supplies. There is always a big sale or discount going on at a show, much more than you will see online for a holiday. This is the best time of the year to go towards your favorite brand and buy up as much a possible. Seriously, the deals are always amazing. And im not saying you can get a freebie, but if you hit up bathroom stall number…. Never mind. The trade show floor is a wonderful place to purchase, so bring a big tote, you’re so gonna need it!

Dopamine Psychoactive Adjustment

  • This is my new favorite one! Because I wrote it just for the ones who are simply burnt out, or tired of a pattern they live in. Without knowing it, a pattern of the same thing can actually drain you. It is so important to have variety in your life so that the dullness never gets to you. So, a dopamine psychoactive adjustment (which I made up), simply means, taking the time to give your brain an outlet to grow and be motivated and satisfied. I truly believe it is extremely important to come from behind the desk every once in a while. It’s why we have off days, why we have vacations, but, even staying in the zone but changing it up can be very healthy. Listen to this, taking more than just nail art classes and adding variety to your career will send so much dopamine through your brain you’ll be surprised with how high you’ll be. Itll be fantastic!

So, do you agree? Do you feel as though you are throughly ready to attend a nail show? Well I sure do think so, but take your time. Take all of this in, and if you are nervous, try a small show, don’t overwhelm yourself with the hustle and bustle of the louder more crowded shows. Everything can be adjusted to how you like so that you are comfortable. And when you do, well, enjoy your first show! BTW, if you need to see the calendar for upcoming shows visit here! Thanks for reading and I will see you later sweets!
