Be The Change

Be the change you want to see.

Hey everyone! Welcome to another spicy sautéing post by Southernly Sweet Nails! This week we’re gonna talk about the ever changing industry. Agh, not again! Yes again! Let’s talk about how we view each other and the love we share, but also the discontent we can sometimes give off. Shocking… But it’s there.

With every growing day social media is as positive as equally as it is negative. Lately, the world was turned upside down as true feelings surfaced and ex employees were taunted, casting a haze over the industry. People were virtually rioting and picketing, placing their stance firmly as they no longer believed in the family they’ve come to love. Unfortunate as it is, we have to accept not everything can be sweet as roses, as much as we want it to be. So while their products maybe top notch, one attitude can destroy a brand quicker than fog over a parade. I prefer fog, you can’t see, rain just makes you wet and uncomfortable. Hmmm, maybe it’s both.

So while that discontent maybe jarring, best believe your faith in moral code stands high as many of you have championed for not only quality products but humanity to back it up. Your love of nails runs deep, it’s not just surface level with every cat eye you polish, or chrome powder you scrub in. You want to know the person behind it all stands with you, your beliefs, and in return, you will be a customer forever. Don’t believe me, what’s your favorite brand and why? Exactly!

And while we are on favorites, let’s talk about our upcoming favorite holiday! Thanksgiving of course, perfectly placed in the middle of the holiday season, and with that comes holiday art. So why not try these lovely fall leaves in your next set of nails? Click the photo below to start your Thanksgiving journey, or also to continue to support this blog! #ad

But not everything is sour, every week I am filling up my cup of positivity with sights of nail techs holding pop up events, retreats, and virtual workshops. I find that so amazing as it’s good to see people wanting to continue to help people. Whether young or young at heart, newbie or seasoned, people are willing to give a helping hand, with shaping, application, and more. And let’s face it, we all need help someday. So I love my Facebook group because I WANT people to help each other. Safe spaces are healthy spaces, don’t believe me, go home and see how great you feel just by standing in your living room and feeling safe.

The nail industry is one of the most diverse communities out there. And for all great reasons, and we should embrace that. Never fall subject to others subjugation or demoralization. While it’s very easy to do, remember you are your own entity. You have the power to make a great name for yourself, travel anywhere, learn from anyone, and conquer great things. Only if you, be the change. I will see you later sweeties!
