Good Morning everyone! Welcome to another wonderful round of Nail Tech Spotlight where I interview a fabulous star in our nail community! Today, I want to introduce you to Chloe Reed, she’s a fabulous nail technician that specializes in the art of airbrushing!
Madison: Good morning, how are you today?
Chloe: I’m doing quite well, living the dream, to be honest! 😄
Madison: So, what inspired you to pursue a career in not just nails, but specializing in nail art?
Chloe: My inspiration came from my aunts. Growing up in Detroit, I was always captivated by the ladies with stunning nails, and my aunts were no exception. I thought to myself, “I would love to do that!”
Madison: That’s so cool that you say that, my aunt was always the one who had the flashy nails in the family too! Do you own your own salon or rent a booth?
Chloe: I currently rent a suite in San Antonio, Texas, and I’ve been doing so for the past decade.
Madison: I see you’ve gained quite a reputation for your airbrushing skills. How did you get started with that?
Chloe: Airbrushing was a huge trend in Detroit during the ’90s, and I felt it needed a revival. So, in 2017, I began learning the technique. I couldn’t find anyone in the USA willing to teach me, which is why I traveled to Tokyo, Japan. It was an incredible technique back then, and now it’s experiencing a resurgence.
Madison: Now that is stellar, and truly passionate of you. To travel to Japan to learn something you love? That is an amazing amount of commitment! Would you consider yourself the airbrushing expert?
Chloe: Without a doubt! I’ve taken the technique far beyond the basics of point and shoot. I’m all about intricate details and pushing the boundaries.
Madison: Do you offer paid of free airbrushing classes?
Chloe: For free lessons, you can watch all my instructional videos on my Instagram. If you prefer a more hands-on experience, students can book one-on-one classes. Additionally, I offer a membership program for $35 per month, which includes weekly class access and live videos. Subscribers can cancel at any time.
Madison: That is awesome, I love that you’re willing to always help the current and future generations, and a subscription service to keep them updated is amazing. What’s your favorite nail style or technique?
Chloe: Apart from airbrushing, I really enjoy sculpting nails. Strangely, I’m allergic to nail glue, so it’s practically my only option, but I love it!
Madison: That’s ok my grandma was allergic too, I had no choice but to sculpt, but I like it, it pushed me to be a better technician beyond tips. Any advice for newcomers in the nail or airbrushing industry?
Chloe: The key is to practice, practice, practice! This way, you can achieve the nail art you desire, meet your clients’ expectations, and gain the knowledge to excel in this field.
