Good Morning everyone! Thanks for tuning into third part of our series tackling diseases, disorders, and conditions. Brought to you by Pivot Point education, I am so happy I can help you all and have this refresher course. It is the last part of the series before I move on to things in our industry but it has been so much fun.
So for today we are going to discuss and go over Nail Conditions. Nail Conditions are minor irregularities or inconsistencies in the nail. These can be very common as they are things that we do to our selves, by the environment, and so forth. But they are nothing to fear.

Bruised Nail – a nail that has been subjected to trauma and is showing dark discoloration.
Normally this will grow out, or resolve itself with time, please use caution when applying nail services.

Discolored Nails – when nails are blue, yellow, or other colors.
Nails may be pigmented, stained, and these may be buffed out.

Hang Nails – is when the skin is splitting on the nail folds.
Caused by dry skin, nail biting, and can be relived by trimming or using cuticle oils.

Hapalonychia – also known as egg shells, these are thinly curved nails that go over the free edge.
Can be trimmed, kept short, and applied with nail enhancements.

Leukonychia – is when white spots appear on the nail plate.
Can be caused by injury to the nail matrix, and will grow out eventually.
Luckily a lot of times, nails with nail conditions can still be treated and applied with nail enhancements. Most nail conditions are moved on by growing out with time or self care. Also, because nail conditions can be caused by trauma, they are easily relieved. I hope this series has broaden your mind if you have never heard of these conditions, but also refreshed you from the days of being in school. Taking the time to learn and recognize these conditions so that we can cater to each of our clients is of most importance. Also, it makes our clients feel great that they are going to a reputable and knowledgeable technician.
I shall continue to upload more and more educational articles so that we can offer each other great knowledge. Taking the time to study and make ourselves greater is a huge achievement. For now I hope you have enjoyed these series, and until next time, I will see you later sweets!
