Hey all and welcome back to another blog post, today it is currently 5:35 am on a lovely Saturday. How are you doing? I never ask that, and Im sorry, not quite nice of me to always talk about myself and never get to hear from you! Well I hope you’re doing great.
What started this writing had me thinking of people and just how much I felt loved and admired. However, I think now for all the wrong reasons. Let me go into detail a little bit, as I already started off confusing. I tend to do that. You see, when I first came into the nail industry, my first appearance was at Nail Camp, back in 2018 I believe, what a nice experience, if you’ve never been, go! It was so enchanting to be around new people and I had so much fun, but I could definitely tell, these ladies have never seen a woman like me. Oh and btw I will use correct gender terms as I progress through my timeline of being trans nail tech and not trans nail tech.

Anywho, being trans seemed to catapult me to peoples minds and made me somewhat of an object to have, the next best thing so to speak to be partnered with and represented. At the time, I didn’t mind, anything to get ahead right? Without actually doing ya know, “things”. All honorable ways, how about that. It felt good to just have all these opportunities handed to me left and right for absolutely free. Education, products, you name it, it was all given to the trans lady of the industry.
After a while, I had to show myself in the best light, let these ladies know just how amazing I am, show that I have real talent if they could just believe me. So I started to make 3D projects and craft things out of nails, I wanted to stand out, on my own for what I could control, not what you just so happen to see. If I made a bird, then look I made a bird, but people were still talking about the girl who had 6 inch heels at a nail show.

To me, why was my normal, so strange to everyone else? Why was bright makeup, fancy clothes, and penis such a topic? I have no idea, but it was! I didn’t like it. But there was nothing I could do about it. I was just being me after all. Then it all suddenly changed..I changed.
While I won’t do a full story here, as I have told that story plenty of times to all the askers… I had decided no longer to be trans, for public and private reasons. That is my choice and I am still happy with that. I know for most people that was very confusing, but it’s my life and we adapt and grow and our mind does mysterious things to change the course of our lives. So, here I am, a boy again to the world. So how does that look now for the nail industry, who wrote me off to be a walking commercial?
It didn’t do any good, for months I could feel people treated me like I’m nothing anymore. Like you’re just a human like everyone else. Surprisingly that didn’t bother me, it was the realization that people put being trans on such a pedestal, that if you’re just a nail tech, then you’re just a nail tech. To me that wasn’t right, there are plenty of amazing nail techs I have met and are on my social media that wished they were noticed more, but they aren’t, why? I have no clue, but what made me special, I took away, and honestly, I was glad.
To me, that was never fair, I have had classes for me, products for free and to use, all just for being “Madison”, but what about the Tiffany’s, the Nicole’s, the Amanda’s, aren’t they someone to prop up to be a better nail tech? Am I making sense? I know I can spiral. The point is, you shouldn’t be treated different just because you’re truly different, whether it’s positive or negative.
I feel like most people would probably let that slide and say, I’ll take whatever freebies I can get. But, for me, I wanted value, self worth, something that I made for me. And for a while, I didn’t think I had it.

So I changed that, I changed it all! I wanted everyone to feel like they are special because they are, I wanted nail techs to know they are more than a person behind the table. If I could make at least one person believe they are of value to this world, I did my job. Because I don’t want anyone to feel like they are undervalued just because they don’t have an award, a title, an ambassadorship, or event discount code.
So for me, it was time for a fresh start, I wanted to start showcasing new designs, new projects, and new accolades that I have rightfully worked hard for. No more were heels a topic, I wanted nails! And overtime I accomplished this, I still have a long way to go. I’ve only been doing nails for four years. But I am determined to build myself and build up others. Because we are all amazing, we just gotta be seen. But I see you. I see every one of you. And I love you all.
So kudos to the trans women in the world who are respected for being themselves, I love y’all. I hope no in this industry ever gets ahead for being different, I hope we all are favored and respected for the talents we showcase. And I hope you all have a Happy Holiday, thank you for reading.
I’ll see you later sweets.

Thank you for sharing darling. I remember many of your posts when things changed and I was sad for you. You should be loved for WHO you are, not for what category you fit into. You should be appreciated for what you bring to the table with your wit and your skills, not for which team you’re playing on. and know that I’m happiest when you’re happy with where you’re at with who you are, no matter who that is xo <3
Thank you so much for your words!! Don’t ever be sad, your smile doesn’t shine as bright! I’m glad I always have you in my corner. 💝💖
You are amazing, no matter which gender or any other category/label! Just keep being your authentic self. *hugs and support *
